This sad little stove area, was all this huge mansion had! Apparently, back in it's heyday, the kitchen of Thorndale Manor was in the basement and the house staff would prepare food down in the basement and bring the food up and serve the owners in the beautiful dining room!
And of course, back in the day, master bathrooms were much simpler....this master bathroom had one sink(which was hiding behind a door) and the little tub you see, and a toilet. We gutted the room which took 10 days, because the floors were 14 inches of poured concrete!
Here are the plumbing pipes added for the new shower and sink that we added to the master bathroom!
Another before view of the kitchen....the refrigerator we designed went between those two doors.
Here we are furring out the walls in the entire kitchen so that we can get electrical throughout the kitchen.
Here's that corner of the master bathroom....the gorgeous shower! We based the curving ceiling motif on an architectural detail seen over the mansions front door.
I have to agree that the master bathrooms back in the day were simpler. Now, you could see a high-class-hotel-looking-bathroom in an average house. I guess, that's because people are being more creative and always wanting something new. Also, good kind of materials are now available in hardware stores, so it's not impossible to renovate with a low budget. The plumbing for the shower looks neat! This house seems to have an interesting design. How did the entire renovation go?
